Akai Electric Ltd. (“Akai Electric,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) respects your privacy. This Policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, and the rights you have. It applies to akaielectric.ca and any services that link to it.

We collect information in three ways: directly from you, automatically from your devices, and from third parties.

A. Information you provide

  • Contact & identity: name, phone, email.

  • Project details: service address, preferred dates/times, job notes, photos or files you upload (e.g., panel photos).

  • Business information: company name, role (for commercial clients).

  • Payment details: if you pay online or by card, limited billing info is processed by our payment provider (we do not store full card numbers).

  • Communications: emails, phone calls/voicemails, text messages, and form submissions.

B. Information collected automatically

  • Usage & device data: IP address, browser type, pages viewed, time on site, referring URLs.

  • Cookies & pixels: small files that help remember preferences, measure traffic, and support advertising (see Cookies below).

C. Information from third parties

  • Service providers & platforms: scheduling tools, CRM, analytics, advertising platforms (e.g., Google/Meta), call tracking, and payment processors may provide interaction and attribution data tied to your visit or inquiry.

2) How we use your information

We use your information to:

  • Provide services: schedule site visits, prepare quotes, perform electrical work, issue invoices, and deliver customer support.

  • Communicate: respond to inquiries, send service updates, and request feedback.

  • Estimate & plan: understand project scope, safety requirements, permitting needs, and dispatch logistics.

  • Improve & secure our site: diagnose issues, analyze performance, prevent fraud/abuse.

  • Marketing (with consent where required): send occasional updates or promotions; run measurement and interest-based ads (you can opt out—see Your choices).

  • Legal & compliance: meet tax, safety, warranty, and record-keeping obligations; respond to lawful requests.

  • Business operations: internal reporting, audits, and potential business transactions (e.g., merger or sale).

Legal bases (Canada/BC): We collect, use, and disclose personal information under BC PIPA and PIPEDA on the basis of your consent, to fulfill a contract (your service request), or where permitted/required by law. If applicable, for EU/UK visitors we rely on consent, contract necessity, legitimate interests, and compliance with legal obligations.

3) When we share information

We share information only as needed and with safeguards:

  • Service providers (processors): hosting, CRM/scheduling, email/SMS, analytics, advertising, call tracking, and payments (e.g., Google Analytics, Meta advertising tools, your payment processor). They may access personal information solely to provide services to us.

  • Subcontractors or licensed partners: where required to complete your job, with your knowledge (e.g., specialty trades, permit runners).

  • Business transfers: during a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets.

  • Legal and safety: to comply with law, enforce terms, or protect rights, property, and safety.

We do not sell your personal information. If you are a California resident, we do not “sell” data as defined by the CCPA/CPRA; we may “share” limited identifiers for cross-context behavioral advertising. See Your choices to opt out.

4) International transfers

Our vendors may store or process information outside British Columbia or Canada (e.g., the United States). We take steps to protect your information under applicable laws when it is transferred internationally.

5) Retention

We keep personal information only as long as necessary for the purposes in this Policy—typically:

  • Quotes & service records: up to 7 years (tax, warranty, and legal requirements).

  • Marketing contacts: until you unsubscribe or your consent is withdrawn.

  • Website logs/analytics: per our providers’ standard retention windows.

When no longer needed, we securely delete or anonymize data.

6) Your choices & rights

  • Access & correction: Request a copy of your personal information and ask us to correct inaccuracies.

  • Withdraw consent: You can withdraw consent to optional uses (e.g., marketing) at any time.

  • Delete: Request deletion where required by law and where we no longer need the data.

  • Opt out of marketing: Click “unsubscribe” in emails or contact us.

  • Ad preferences:

  • Global Privacy Control (GPC): We honor GPC signals where supported by your browser.

BC residents: You may contact the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia regarding unresolved concerns.
Canada-wide: You may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

7) Cookies & similar technologies

We use:

  • Strictly necessary cookies: site security, basic functions.

  • Performance/analytics: understand site usage and improve content (e.g., Google Analytics).

  • Advertising/retargeting: measure ads and show relevant offers (e.g., via Google/Meta pixels).

Managing cookies: Most browsers let you block or delete cookies. Blocking some cookies may affect site functionality. You can also use industry opt-outs (e.g., YourAdChoices) and the links in Your choices above.

Do Not Track: Many browsers offer DNT signals; while there’s no single standard, we treat strong browser signals like GPC as an opt-out of targeted advertising.

8) Security

We use technical and organizational measures appropriate to the sensitivity of the information (encryption in transit, access controls, least-privilege administration, and vendor due diligence). No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9) Children

Our website and services are not directed to children under 18. If you believe a child provided personal information, contact us and we’ll delete it where required.
 

10) Third-party links

Our site may link to third-party websites or services. Their privacy practices are their own; please review their policies.
 

11) Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. The “Effective date” shows when it was last updated. Significant changes will be posted on this page and, where appropriate, communicated to you.
